Chayanne and Marc Anthony Perform in Mexico City

More than 100,000 people attending a free concert in the Zocalo, Mexico City’s main plaza, with Chayanne and Marc Anthony.

Chayanne said, “Esta es hora de decir ‘México lindo y querido’, porque desde que empecé mi carrera he estado ligado a esta tierra, y hoy es un honor estar en el Zócalo. Mis músicos, mi gente y yo hemos preparado este show con mucho cuidado, así que pueden hacer de nosotros lo que quieran.”

(Chayanne said, “This is the time to say ‘beautiful and beloved Mexico’, because since I started my career I have been tied to this land, and today is an honor to be in the Zocalo. My musicians, my people and I have prepared this show very carefully, so we can make whatever they want.”)

This is the first concert held under Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera, who is following the lead of his predecessor, Marcelo Ebrard, in fostering huge – and free – cultural events organized in the Zocalo in a country where having to pay to go to a concert is not within everyone’s financial grasp.

New Chayanne CD in 2013

Chayanne’s schedule is full in January 2013, working on a new album.

Chayanne is currently in his native Puerto Rico, along with his wife Marilisa and children Lorenzo Valentino and Isadora Sofía. He lives in Miami, but every year frees two weeks of December to live with his family in Puerto Rico.

But the stay will be brief, for the next week he will be working on what will be the new CD.

The new album currently doesn’t have a title.

In addition to launching a new album, Chayanne expects to tour next year.

Gigant3s Tour Begins Friday

Chayanne, Marc Anthony, and Marco Antonio Solis met yesterday at the American Airlines Arena for their first series of tests of the “Gigant3” tour, which starts on Friday in Miami, Florida.

“Today marks the beginning of an amazing musical journey for music fans across the nation,” said Henry Cardenas, Chief Executive Officer/President of Cardenas Marketing Network, the producer of the tour. “We are proud to present three of the most accomplished artists of our time in one major show.”

Chayanne and Tony Bennett’s “The Best Is Yet to Come” Release Information

Tony Bennett will be releasing Viva Duets, his newest collection of duets on October 23, 2012.  The CD includes his duet with Chayanne, “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

Tony Bennett’s 86th birthday on August 3 will be a great day for Chayanne fans.  For his birthday, Tony Bennett is releasing the first song from Viva Duets, “The Best Is Yet to Come” with Chayanne.  Visit http://tonybennett.com on August 3, starting at 9 a.m. ET to hear Chayanne’s new song.

Measure Formalizes Chayanne Road in San Lorenzo

The Senate has approved a bill to formalize the permanent name of road PR-203, connecting State Highway PR-30 with PR-183 in the municipality of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, as Elmer Figueroa Arce “Chayanne.”  The road is currently known as the Express “Chayanne” by residents and visitors to the area, as indicated in the preamble to the measure. The measure directs the Commission Naming Structures and Public Highways of the Government of Puerto Rico to take steps to comply with the provisions of this Act.

The bills states:

“La trayectoria personal y profesional de “Chayanne” ejemplifica los valores que más preciamos como pueblo, entre los que distinguimos el respeto por el prójimo, el amor a la vida y la tierra en que nacimos y la civilidad entre unos y otros, con la cual creamos un mejor futuro para las próximas generaciones. Elmer también ha tenido en su vida la faceta de hombre de familia, casado con la Sra. Marilisa Maronese, con quien ha procreado dos hijos, de nombre Lorenzo Valentino e Isadora Sofía, quienes son los verdaderos tesoros de la vida de este insigne artista”, agrega.

“Esta Asamblea Legislativa, entiende meritorio hacer un reconocimiento y destacar como ejemplo a la persona y el artista, por los logros que ha protagonizado “Chayanne” en su prolífera trayectoria profesional y el buen nombre que ha contribuido a prodigarle a Puerto Rico en el mundo. Esta pieza legislativa pretende oficializar con carácter permanente el nombre de Elmer Figueroa Arce “Chayanne” para la PR-203, ya otorgado por la ciudadanía y de este modo, honrar y exaltar en vida el legado que a su corta edad ha logrado con talento, disciplina y trabajo para su familia, San Lorenzo y todos los puertorriqueños”, sostiene.

Chayanne Filming Video in Mexico

Chayanne shot a new video clip surrounded by the natural landscape of a pool of orange groves in the state of Veracruz.

According to reports in Mexico, Chayanne came to Mexico for a major advertising campaign but used his stay for this sequence.
