In Spain They still Don't Know All My Facets
(English translation by Analia)
Chayanne-Singer
"IN SPAIN THEY STILL DON´T KNOW ALL MY FACETS"
F.J. Madrid.-October 4th , 2000.
Being 32 years old, Chayanne has been 22 devoted to the show business.
Since he was a child he was trained to sing, dance, pose, smile, to be
handsome and seduce; a male model created to be every woman´s dream; however,
he is not an artificial man.
Chayanne has not that spoiled attitude of many children who grew up in
the entertainment world but he behaves with such a true spontaneity, and
so nicely that he invites you to be relaxed and to make jokes. "I left
home when I was 10 to be part of "Los Chicos", but I don´t feel I didn´t
have a childhood, maybe because my family was always with me, because
I have brothers and grandparents and we shared a lot of meals and parties
together", says Chayanne. " I also think that I am down to earth and easygoing,
when I´m home, I live a normal life, I go out to walk with my son or have
dinner with friends. I´m not like Michael Jackson , I don´t have an elephant
in my garden" , says laughing.
He is not artificial, but not profound either. His new cd "Simplemente",
is an example of that light and danceable latin pop; "On stage I ´m more
a showman than a singer", he explains, "as Raul Julia told me once, try
to feel that you are that character, but sometimes I feel I can sit back
with a guitar and sing a romantic song. In Spain I´m known by my dancing
and my party songs, but in Latin America , what they like the most are
my romantic songs".
Chayanne, who has been a hearthrob in many soap operas, thinks that real
life is not so different from those dramas. "Unfortunately, life is many
times, although sometimes it is exaggerated", he says.
In "Simplemente", Chayanne sings a duet with Ruben Blades. "I admire Blades
very much as many others latin singers and writers like him and Juan Luis
Guerra. Those magic songs they can write"
He also sings a song to Puerto Rico "I say I´m an island, within my Island,
it´s a song about absence and nostalgia".
