Chayanne reigns in Spain, according to survey

Not Ricky Martin. Not Luis Miguel. Not Enrique Iglesias. It is Puerto Rican Chayanne who reigns in Spain as the most popular Latin artist, according to
a survey conduced by ¡Hola! magazine among its readers.
The survey, which drew 2,261 votes through the magazine's web site, showed that Chayanne has been
stealing many hearts in Spain since the release of his album, Atado a Tu Amor. His dance tune Salomé is
a smashing hit in the European country.
With the release of his new album, Simplemente, Chayanne won an overwhelming 52.9% of the votes,
which positioned him way above Luis Miguel, who got 22.8%. A third place went to Ricky Martin with
10.4%; Martin was followed by veteran Julio Iglesias with 7.4%. Interestingly, Enrique Iglesias came in last
with just 6.5% of the votes.
Chayanne has been nominated for an Amigo award as Best Latin Male Artist. The Amigo awards ceremony will take place at the Palacio de Congresos in Madrid November 13. The show will
feature Christina Aguilera, U2, Backstreet Boys, and Alejandro Sanz. Chayanne is competing in the same category
with Enrique Iglesias and Colombian Carlos Vives. With such a high popularity index for Chayanne, guessing who the winner will be shouldn't be a difficult task.
